TV Shows I love, most of which are gone.

Ok so
anyothergirl415 did this since someone on her flist did... and now I am too. Cause I'm putting off working on other stuff till later because I have nothing due to Thursday and applications for summer employment are just frustrating at the moment.
Basically list television series you have seen and write a brief note about why/why not people should write this. While anyothergirl415 said "All the way through" I'm going to state that these are episodes I've seen *most* of the episodes for. If I haven't seen an entire season then I'll mention it in my write up. Some of these I haven't seen for a long time so I can't remember if I missed a lot of or did see the entire series. I tried to include shows I've at least seen the pilot and the last (aired) episode, though. I won't say that I haven't missed an episode of though.
I didn't see route 666 of supernatural till after I'd seen most of season 3 because my roommate accidentally skipped it on the dvd... so things happen. And hey, for some of these I was a BABY.
Because I'm killing myself without it- I won't be including the dozens of anime series I've seen.

Without further ado:
Supernatural - Staring: Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles
- This is one of my favorite shows, currently my most favorite. The storyline is excellent and the main theme is all about family. It's about two brothers who travel cross country hunting things that go bump in the night. It's at the end of it's fourth season and confirmed for season five. The main story follows Sam Winchester, a student at Stanford who, after the death of his girlfriend Jessica, returns to the life of a hunter as he tries to find the creature that killed his girlfriend, which also killed his mother when he was six years old. The only other main character is Dean Winchester, Sam's older brother who has lived as a Hunter since the death of their mother when he was four (Sam was 6 months). That's just the very beginning of the story... and it just gets better and better.
*Dark Angel - Staring: Jessica Alba, Michael Weatherly (and others); joined in the second season by Jensen Ackles
- I love this post apocalyptic show that follows Max (Jessica Alba), a genetically modified super solder, as she tries to fit in the real world. In 2009 a nuclear bomb was detonated that released a magnetic pulse that wiped out most of the technology on the West coast and put the US into a great depression. Around that same time, Max and about a dozen of her siblings escaped from a top secret military facility called Manticore. Jensen places a serial killer, Ben, in the first season and the clone of that character, Alec, in the second.
-DA is great overall, and there are some excellent episodes. There are only two seasons as it was canceled after the second. The last episode, however, is a decent ending (though I want more). Max's character was a little but underdeveloped when interacting with most of the others- always a "bitch" and rarely unwavering to the point it was kinda silly. Especially her interaction with Alec. Both seasons progressed too quickly, they would have been more successful if they'd stretched things out regarding finding Manticore again, and getting back out in season two could have been at least three episodes worth of material. The Breeding cult was sort of badly planned (or at least executed).
Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles - Staring: Lena Heady, Thomas Dekker, Summer Glau, Richard T. Jones, Brian Austin Green... etc.
- This is an excellent retake on post Terminator 2. I much prefer the first season of this show to the third Terminator movie. The first season was great, although cut short by the writers strike. I do like some of what was done in the second season and Summer Glau really shines in her episodes. This series is awaiting confirmation on pickup/cancellation. I don't have high hopes for it due to the second season being all over the place in regards to quality. I also disliked how hard it was to work out the actual timeline of the show itself (not the terminator universe). The first season and second season almost seem to be two different shows in how they were organized. Definitely watch the first season and feel free to skip around in the second. You won't miss much.
*Angel - Staring: David Boreanez, Charisma Carpenter, Aexis Denisof, J. August Richards, Amy Acker, Andy Hallet + Others
- This show had a good five season run and was a spin off of BtVS. Angel, the main character, is a Vampire with a soul. He moved from Sunnydale to LA and formed a private investigation service. He mostly deals with crimes that cops won't touch or can't solve due to the demonic elements to them. This is an excellent show and if you loved BtVS I'd definitely suggest it.
*Buffy the Vampire Slayer - Staring: Sarah Michelle Gellar, Alyson Hannigan, Nicholas Brendon, Anthony Head, James Marsters, Emma Caulfield + others
- I love this show. This follows Buffy, a 16 year old girl told she's the Chosen One. Yeah a cheerleader was chosen to stop the apocalypse and save the world from Vampires. Buffy has just moved to Sunnydale where she meets her new Watcher, Giles. The show lasted seven seasons and had wonderful writing styles. There were also lots of 'special' episodes... one done almost entirely without speaking and one that was a musical. If you like sci-fi fantasy, like Horror, and like High School/coming of age shows? Or just one of the above, you'll love this. Plus, sexy vampires!
*Tru Calling - Staring: Eliza Dushku, Shawn Reaves, Zach Galifianakis +others
-This was actually a fun show, though it only lasted two seasons. I've only seen the first season in its entirety. The show follows, Tru, as she gets a job working nights at a morgue. She discovers that she has the ability to... listen to the corpses ask for help. When they do she is sent back in time to that morning. She then spends the day trying to prevent their death (and figure out who they are). I loved this show and it even works just watching a random episode most of the time.
*Firefly (and movie Serenity) Staring: Nathan Fillion, Gina Tores, Summer Glau, Adam Baldwin, +others
-OMG WHY DOES FOX CANCEL THE GOOD SHOWS. Cowboys in space. This lasted 14 episodes but the fans rallied and it was, kind of, tied up in a feature film. Love this show and everything about it. There is a misfit crew, a captain and second in command who were members of the resistance (from the civil war), a missionary, a weapons lover (muscle), the pilot who plays with dinosaur toys, a high price hooker, a doctor and his insane little sister. All of them on a tiny little ship running things on the black market and trying to keep away from the Alliance. If you are a sci-fi fan and don't like this show there must be something wrong with you.
Dollhouse - Staring: Eliza Dushku, Harry Lennix, Franz Kranz, Tamoh Pennikett, Amy Acker +others
- Just in its first season and I love it. It's about an underground agency that calls itself the Dollhouse. They specialize in fulfilling wishes and fantasy's among other things, through using 'actives'. Actives are people who have signed their life away for a period of years. During this time their memories and personality are archived and their bodies are a blank slate. New, created, memories are put into the minds of the actives to send them out on different missions or jobs. Most of which involve being the perfect person for ____ while others are a tad bit more dangerous. A mix of an overreaching plot and awesome stand alone. I hope it gets renewed but the ratings are low, excellent writing though.
*Stargate SG1 - Staring: Richard Dean Anderson, Michael Shanks, Christopher Judge, Amanda Tapping +others
- This show had a good run of 10 years. There was some cast swapping but always a core of three of the original cast remained. You can start at practically any point in the early seasons and if you missed episodes but do know the basics the end as well. It's about the military finding an alien artifact called the stargate and using it to travel to other worlds and meet new civilizations of transplanted humans. Yes, humans, because the galaxy is populated with them (and a few alien species). They were taken as slaves to other worlds in prehistoric times (and periodically since) by the Goa'ould, a race of parasitic snakes that use humans as hosts. I followed it from the first time I saw an episode and never thought ill of it.
*Stargate Atlantis - Staring: Joe Flannigan, Rachel Luttrell, David Hewlett, Jason Momoa + others
- Spin off of Sg1 ended after five seasons, this follows a join military and civilian group through the stargate to an ancient outpost in another galaxy, Atlantis. In the beginning of the series they are stranded there with no way to go home and look for allies. They find people that are pretty much human and another race, the Wraith, that use them as cattle. The wraith are alien vampires that consume life energy of other living organisms to live themselves. And guess what? Most of the Wraith have been in hibernation... till a team from Atlantis wakes them up. So now, the Atlantis team gets to pick up their mess and try to get along with their new neighbors. Excellent show and you'll certainly like it if you liked SG1. I still need to get caught up with the last two seasons since it tended to air when I worked in the summer.
*Farscape - Staring: Ben Browder, Claudia Black, Anthony Simcoe, Jonathan Hardy, Gigi Edgly +others
- This Australian based (although Ben is American) television series is simply amazing! It was a join effort that Jim Hensen's played a big part in. There is a wonderful mixture of puppets and CGI used to make the aliens that the main characters interact with. The sheer mixture of alien species of all different sizes and shapes is amazing. Oh right, the plot? It's about an astronaut that was shot through a wormhole during an experimental maneuver where he was trying to slingshot his ship using earth's gravity. They never did explain how he was planning to get back after he did so, but hey the show was awesome and it FRELLING made it all worth ignoring one or two small things. No one speaks english, but everyone understand each other beacause of injections of microorgasms that collect at the base of your brain and allow you to. The ship they are on, Moya, is a living ship filled with escaped prisoners- though there are only three on board. When he exited the wormhole John Chriton's pod collided with a peacekeeper fighter that hit an asteroid and exploded- killing the pilot. The pilot happened to be the brother of the leader of that particular Peacekeeper battle group. The crew of Moya bring Chriton aboard because they don't know his technology and think he might be able to help. WRONG. When Moya starbursts they also accidently bring along a peacekeeper (Sabacean) named Aeryn Sun. She looks human but is cold blooded. She's shoot first ask later. She becomes irreversably contaminated due to her interaction with Chriton and ends up joining the escaped prisoners during their journeys across the galaxy as they attempt to find their homes. It's too good to summarize. SRSLY...that was just the first episode. 4 seasons + a mini series to tie it up.
*The Invisible Man - Staring: Vincent Vantresca, Paul Ben-Victor, Shannon Kenny, Eddie Jones, +others
- Basically a guy is offered a pardon from his crimes by his brother and a way out of prison. The catch? Be a part of a medical experiment. What is it? The implantation of a gland into his brain from a Sasquatch. That's right. What does the gland do? Causes the body to secrete a chemical that allows the creature/person to manipulate light rays to become 'invisible'. The problem? Getting it out doesn't end up to be that easy... and it's the gland of a female Sasquatch. Anyway, I liked this show but it's been a while since I've seen an episode. It lasted two seasons.
*The Pretender - Staring: Michael T. Weiss, Andrea Parker, Patrick Bauchau +ohters
- So this agency takes kids from their parents at a young age, genius', and teaches them. They learn how to be anything and everyone, to adapt to every situation, adopt any personality. He was used for thirty years by the agency to aid their research. Thirty years later he escaped and now he's looking for his family and following leads. Trying to stay out of the hands of the organization that stole him from his parents and find out the truth. Meanwhile he's pretending and helping people. Excellent show and I really really love it to this day, 4 seasons+movies.
*Battlestar Galactica - Staring: Edward J. Olmos, Mary McDonnell, Jaime Bamber, James Callis, Tricia Helfer, Tahmoh Penikett, Katee Sackhoff, Grace Park, Michael Hogan, Aaron Douglas +others
- This four season show that ended with a PLANNED FROM THE BEGINNING ending, is superb. I suggest having time to marathon it because it is a true serial show. Practically each episode ties into the one before and after it. The acting, filming, special effects, music, story line, and characters are amazing, gritty, and real. The themes they explore are questions that we should be asking ourselves today. If you love sci-fi OR drama then watch this. There is plenty of it to be had. It is very realistic and there is lots of death so beware. Any character could die and any character could be one of the killer robots.
*Battlestar Galactica (1978) - Staring: Lorne Green, Richard Hatch, Dirk benedict, Herb Jefferson Jr., Laurette Spang, Terry Carter
- This show only lasted one season and watching it now it is kind of silly. At the time, though, it had excellent special effects and there was something in it for everyone. The cylons attacked the fleet and homeworlds when everyone was bunched up together, devastating the human population. Adama, commander of the Galactica and only surviving military ship (known), leads a rag tag fleet of vessels in search of earth. They do run into a few other alien, and human, populations on the way. Almost deciding to stay on Terra, but continuing on to earth. Canceled after one season. Watch it but don't be serious about it. It is a good show but you'll probably giggle about some of it, remember it was family friendly (unlike the new one).
*Galactica 1980
-BSG revived after it's cancelation... only they've found earth and Starbuck is missing. Really silly and kinda stupid, didn't last long. Crew members of the Galactica get to help boyscouts save the day (or at least that's kinda what it seems). The only episode remotely worth watching is the one in which Starbuck returns.
*Star Trek: ALL OF THEM
- If you don't know this universe you are so far outside of the loop it's sad. The original series is a cult classic, though silly at times now. TNG had excellent episodes and characters, DS9 was good but I stopped watching when they killed Dax, Voyager was about a ship stuck 80 years from home, and Enterprise was the only one I'd say wasn't all that good. Overall if you know the basics of any of the shows you can pretty much jump in anywhere. There are also plenty of movies (Most TOS and then TNG).
*Lexx - Staring: Brian Downey, Michael McManus, Xenia Seeburg +others
- Lasted four seasons. A canadian and German production and yes there is more nudity and sexual innuendo then most American shows had in its time. Another group of mismatched adventures stuck on a ship together, the ship being Lexx which is a character. Quote from wikipedia "The crew of the Lexx is motivated largely by fear, lust, and insatiable hunger — factors which gradually came to dominate the story-lines more and more, eventually making Lexx famous for its sexual themes and often bizarre story-lines. Each episode in the later series takes the crew through another stage of their journey through chaotic, hostile universes without any legitimate authority while exploring the relationships between the protagonists and their individual histories." You've got a security gaurd, Stanley, who has somehow become the captain, Zev/Xev who is half cluster lizard and half love slave, Kai the last of the Brunnen-G and also an undead and emotionless divine assasine, a robot head that is in love at first with Zev/Xev and then Kai, and a man eating plant woman that joins them occasionally. It's fun and oh so good.
MY HAND HURTS. So I may continue this later, other shows I may write about:
*Babylon 5, *Crusade, Merlin, Legend of the Seeker, *Hercules and *Xena, *Earth 2, United States of Tera, Dexter, *Six Feet Under, *Dead Like Me, Eureka, *Queer as Folk, *MacGyver, *Quantum Leap, *Sliders, *Charmed, *Dresden Files, *Jeremiah, *Jericho, Torchwood, Doctor Who, *ER, CSI...all of them, NCIS, Law and Order, Psych, Monk, *Northern Exposure, *X-Files, Kyle XY, *Roswell, Lost, Chuck, Bones, *Forever Knight, *Highlander, *Early Edition, *Witchblade, *Alias, *First Wave, *Red Dwarf, *Lois and Clark, *The Outer Limits, *viper, *The Dead Zone, *Andromeda, *Sentinel, *Knight Rider (new), Smallville, *Earth Final Conflict, Tru Blood)
